Why The Hangar?
While visiting my great-grandfather when I was a child, my favorite thing to do was visit the National Museum of the US Air Force. We would walk around every hangar and he would tell me about the different planes he flew and the work that goes into being a colonel.
Every plane carries its own history and eventually retires back to the hangar. We've created our own hangar here as a place to look back at the history we've made.
July '26 | Great-Grandma Janie
While visiting my grandparents in May, we looked through my great-grandpa’s collection of photographs from the many countries he and my great-grandma Janie traveled to together. Among them, I came across this photo of Janie wearing one of my great-grandfather’s Air Force T-shirts. The photo is believed to have been taken sometime in the 1940s or 1950s. Sadly, the shirt itself is no longer in my family, but I love having this photograph and being able to share a small piece of their history.
July '26 | Mobil Gas Work Shirts
We came across these two 1960s Mobil work shirts last year and instantly loved them. Mobil is such a recognizable name in Americana and petroliana, with a history spanning over a century and, of course, the iconic red Pegasus. Both shirts are in amazing condition for their age, with that perfect khaki color and classic Mobil patch on the chest. The long sleeve has since found a new home with someone who really appreciated it, while the short sleeve, with the original owner Don’s name chain-stitched in red, is still with us.
